Distributor InfoThis is just some info I am jotting down for future help with things.
In this first picture we have a comparison of the OBD1 h23 housing and an OBD2 H22a4 housing. As you can see there is hardly any difference between the two other than the indention in the top right corner for the TDC sensor and the threaded holes to bolt it to the housing. Other than that, these housings are completely identical and the guts can be interchangeable as long as the holes are tapped to mount the TDC sensor. I have these parts labeled in the pictures.
To get to these sensors in the bottom of the housing, you must do a few things. The obvious ones should stick out like a sore thhumb. Remove all screws that show on the top of the plate. This means removing the igniter and CKP sensor (if applicable). Next you have to flip the distributor over and remove the c-clip located on the shaft which attaches the distributor to the camshaft. Once you have removed this clip, you must remove the locking shaft.
Once you have removed this shaft and bolts from the plate, you can either wiggle the whole shaft assembly off (the main shaft and plate are one big assembly as you can see in the pictures below) or you can take a screw driver to break the rod loose from the housing. Mine took a little convincing to remove so it might take a couple hits for it to come loose.
Here i have all the pickups labeled and you can get a clear idea of how the assembly comes out as a whole. The OBD1 unit was removed with the sensor harness intact to give a better view.
